The Lions Club Computer Institute for the Blind (LICCIB)

Establishment of the Institute

The Lions Club Computer Institute for the Blind LICCIB was established in April, 2014, for the sole purpose of integrating and educating visually impaired high school graduates in computer science and technology in the Republic of Liberia.

Number of Graduates since 2014

The Lions Club Computer Institute for the Blind have graduated twenty-three students. Five (5) females and eighteen (18) males. 55% of our graduates are currently employed in either the government or the private sector.

Our office staff are as follows:

  • Rev. Z. Wilfred Gewon - Manager, LICCIB
  • Jeff E. Tarnue - Software Engineer and Deputy Manager
  • Michael L. Weah - Practical Instructor
  • Chrismuriah T. Torbor - Theory Instructor
  • Christine Y. Gittens - Secretary
  • Decontee I. Morris - Office Assistant


Seven (7) students (three females and four males).


Classes run from 10:00AM-1:00PM Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays


  • Introduction to computer (October to December 2018).
  • Listening and comprehension of Job Access with Speech (JAWS) screen reader for the bind. (January 2019)
  • Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Power Point (February to March 2019)
  • Internet Explorer April to (May 2019)
  • We offer a post-graduation braille technology training for all graduates of the institute.
