Stephen S. Browne is the University Librarian (Dean of Library Services) at African Methodist
Episcopal (AME) University in Monrovia, Liberia, where he oversees the University Library as a
primary hub for teaching, learning, research, and outreach. As an experienced information
professional, he blends librarianship, educational development, and research advocacy to
enhance AME University's academic ecosystem and contribute to national growth.
As Dean of Library Services, Mr. Browne is responsible for the development, management, and
ongoing improvement of AME University's library system, ensuring that collections, services,
and spaces are consistent with the university’s academic priorities and Christian values. He
directs print and electronic collections, staff supervision, user services, and policy creation,
establishing the library as an active participant in curriculum delivery, research supervision, and
quality assurance.

Mr. Browne works as a Country Connector for Research4Life in Liberia, promoting access to
worldwide scientific publications for universities and research institutions. In this role, he has
helped broker key partnerships, such as a landmark agreement between AME University and
ProQuest's Institutional Repository Dissertation & Theses Program, to increase visibility of
Liberian research and integrate AME University more fully into the global scholarly
communication ecosystem. His leadership prioritizes digital inclusivity, responsible use of online
resources, and capacity building for staff and students to effectively use e-resources for teaching,
research, and policymaking.
